Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Farhat.
Jenny, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’m a Palestinian-American photographer, filmmaker, and artist focused on social responsibility and design for change. I reside in Encinitas, California but was born in the humidity of coastal Florida, where I obtained a Master’s degree in Digital Media and Visual Communications from UCF. I’ve been immersed in art and the outdoors since childhood, which have become the dominant factors defining my current lifestyle. As a freelance creative, I have found an outlet for my passion of promoting human rights and conserving the great outdoors. Despite a fun-filled busy schedule I have recently started a company, Harvest Peace, which focuses on importing extra virgin olive oil produced in Palestine and giving back to the farmers by replanting trees to offset destruction caused by regional dispute.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Like so many people, my art is a combination of myriad events and experiences. These pieces are no exception; they are a reflection of my travels through life lived outdoors. They combine my past growing up exploring traditional arts, my brief stint as a geometry teacher and my current profession as a photographer to visualize the emotions nature provokes.
