Check Out Kia Edwards’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kia Edwards.

Hi Kia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Let us be honest! The recent 2020 shift to virtual learning shifted the way our kiddos participated in education from Kindergarten through collegiate; halted live webinars + conferences; workplace training and onboarding became tricky, and the way clinicians and therapist instructed patients and caretakers to help people in need work towards wellness all drastically moved virtually. So many norms that were once full in-person plummeted education and training into learning technology platforms and virtual environments that most (especially parents) were not prepared for!

I observed my son’s Autism Spectrum Disorder educators in Pre-K setting – as well as his clinical pediatric occupational therapist, school speech therapist, and other professionals who oversee learning + child development struggle with distance learning planning. While my husband and I, we were blessed with an entire team of caring experts in their respective industry – virtual treatment plans for US to supervise, homeschooling, while managing my professional career now suddenly from home created an opportunity for me to use my passion of education and instructional design with an emphasis in technology (I.E. eLearnings)! This how Champion Instructors Education & Training LLC was born!

Like many of you – telemedicine home education as well as corporate America onboarding, and staff development did not have the readily available technology resources or professionals (I.E. Instructional Designers or Education Technology Professionals) to convert in-person learning into a virtual setting for adult education. These collective experiences encouraged me to use my talents of instructional design management as an EDUpreneur. I have created conceptual educational content extended to all ages – both virtually and in-person for diverse education systems and human resource teams over the last ten years. That is my story towards launching Champion Instructors, and my miracle son – Aseem (which means Champion), is my “why”! My team of strength-based educators and HR professionals with a unique combination of education technology, school counseling, and diversity experience strive to create innovative and conceptual education products for in-person and virtual learners of all ages, learning styles, cultural backgrounds, and professions.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. As an initial solo-prenuer with two sons under three while managing leadership careers – it was tough. Adding the fact that children with special education need countless hours of resources and support to help enforce independence for the child and education for the parents and care takers. Our home quickly turned into a daycare, a Pre-K classroom, and our offices (for my husband and I) without the space our hours in the day to process what it all would look like. Like most small businesses, start up money is always a concern and like most perfect storms, I lost my job in the pandemic which made me wonder if I had what it took mentally and financially to continue writing the business plan for a service that was surely in demand as early as February 2020 (the onset of the pandemic)!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Champion Instructors is an education (early learners age) and training (adult learners age) consulting LLC that solves diverse educational and training needs virtually or in person. With a current national demand for virtual learning (socially distanced) for employees, telemedicine clinicians, and traditional K-16, our staff of experienced virtual learning educators and seasoned human resources professionals – we are most valued for offering condensed yet effective education services that fit a range of learning needs.

I am most proud of my ability to use my platform to promote: Emotional Intelligence, Learning & Ability Focused, and Diverse & Inclusive Curriculum. Since we are a team of strength-based educators with a seasoned background in early learners’ development through adult learner age, and we place an emphasis on conceptual curriculums that meet diverse learners, promote inclusion and diversity in the learning environment; we pride ourselves on creating conceptual learning products that shifts an education experience from “information to knowledge retention”.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
