Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Hey there! I’m Jessica and the owner/founder of Pure Organic World – an all natural, holistic small-batch body care line.
At the start of 2016, my husband and I had an amazing opportunity to move to Greece. We relocated from our Downtown, San Diego home to the lively, beautiful Greek island, Crete. It was there, on that vibrant island where I founded Pure Organic World.
It started as a travel blog. I loved living off the land and supporting local farmers and villagers as much as possible; in return, the locals taught me how to safely forage wild Greek herbs and flowers along with showing me what concoctions worked for healing skin naturally.
In the summer, the weather in Greece is hot and dry, which is why I started to make my own body butter lotion, sea salt scrubs and healing salves. I incorporated foraged local flowers and herbs with high-quality European organic oils and butters; mixing and hand crafting the perfect blends for my products… all while exploring new inspiration for herb and flower combinations around Europe when we traveled.
Soon after getting settled in Greece, I started volunteering with a local charity group on the Island which lasted for several years. We sold what we made to locals and vacationers in order to raise funds to help the local animals in need. This is where my products started to shine within the community.
We moved back to San Diego in 2020. Not long after the move, I started to get calls and emails for more orders from continued supporters/customers. It was then when I decided to open an online store on my travel blog, offering a variety of all the hand crafted products I make. I now ship all over the U.S and to military addresses overseas.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Pure Organic World started as a travel blog in hopes to connect myself with new cultures around me. Living in a foreign country definitely has its challenges; however learning and connecting with the locals and land is beyond exciting and fulfilling, not to mention a once in a lifetime
opportunity.
It’s what sparked a major interest into what has now turned into a European-inspired, all natural body care line. It’s busy and exciting; and every time I whip up a new batch of one of my products, I am reminded of the many hours perfecting my formulas in my beloved Greek kitchen.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Thank you! Well, I’ve always loved working with oils and herbs. After moving to Greece, I briefly left my profession behind as a Registered Dental Hygienist and took advantage of living overseas for several years. Because I love to work with my hands and have a niche for quality of care and healing, I found enjoyment learning more in depth about these qualities in plants and their oils.
Working with the healing properties of oils and herbs may seem very different to a dental visit; however, it really is quite similar. You see, if you have a toothache, your dentist may use Oil of Clove to help calm down any aches; which is the exact same anti-inflammatory oil I incorporate in my 3-in-1 Organic Miracle Salve for achy muscles and tension headaches. Herbs, flowers and oils have wonderful, intense healing powers.
I focus on holistic, therapeutic benefits in all my products. I absolutely love handcrafting creams, salves, synergy oils and scrubs that actually work, not ones that just “smell good”. Everything I make is intended to have therapeutic and aromatherapeutic qualities,naturally.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Offering all natural, holistic quality ingredients in each product is key, along with affordable price.
It is very hard to find high-quality, natural ingredients in body care products that are affordable for everyday use. This is what I continue to strive for with Pure Organic World.
