Inspiring Conversations with Steffek Rainey of Evera Bottle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steffek Rainey. 

Hi Steffek, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I invented this product when I was 16 years old and have since been working tirelessly to bring it to fruition. Being an environmentalist and animal lover throughout my life, I was horrified to learn about the terrible impacts that plastic pollution is having on our planet. However, I noticed a gap in our society’s messaging about the pitfalls of plastic and the amount of realistic solutions that existed. I knew the best way to end the proliferation of plastic pollution was to cut it off at the source, and so, while observing people in a coffee shop, I invented Evera Bottle. With this product I strive to make reusing just as easy as using plastic, thus setting you up for success to make incremental changes in your waste habits. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I have definitely not been immune to failures and setbacks along this journey. For starters, launching a business as a teenager while also balancing school and extracurriculars is no easy feat. Not to mention the countless executives, designers, and investors that did not take me seriously because of my age. Nonetheless, I use these learning experiences as the fuel to drive my passion to succeed. Even through years of delays due to the pandemic, prototyping fails, and the ongoing supply chain crisis, I continue to push forward every day because I wholeheartedly believe I can make a difference in the world with one simple idea.
