Life and Work with Stephanie Lassalle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Lassalle.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in North County San Diego. I went to local schools and attended Cal Poly San Luis Obisbo. After school, I quickly went to work on the administrative side of Veterinary medicine, a field I still love and work in, but was always craving a creative outlet. I began sharing tips and tricks and reviews on my personal facebook page and telling anyone who would listen about products I loved. Friends and family and quickly friends of friends began following and engaging.

Looking back, I was frequently the friend who people ask random questions of… what shampoo do I use, how to get that stain out, where I got my jacket, is mercury in retrograde again?!?

Blogging was the next obvious step. I dabbled in blogging in 2013 when planning my wedding but never really found my groove. Finally, in 2017, I took the leap and got a “big girl” website and hit the ground running. Throughout the entire process, I have made some amazing connections, learned a ton about what to do – and what not to do- and found that staying true to my authentic self, has been the best course of action!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Blogging and in general “influencing” can be downright brutal, it certainly isn’t all mimosas and brunches (all though there are many of those)! There are so many highs and lows in this industry. You are essentially putting the most personal and vulnerable parts of yourself out to the public for feedback and judgment. My biggest piece of advice for anyone starting out is to stay true to yourself. I never take a collaboration with a brand for something I wouldn’t purchase/use on my own. Authenticity is something you cant fake (obviously!) and something I find people crave when looking for bloggers and Instagrams to follow.

One of the biggest struggles I have had along the way is balancing my 9-5, my blog, my marriage and my sanity! By helping to stay true to all of those things I have found a much better balance of being a great employee, creating content for the blog, having a strong relationship with my husband. Blocking out time for myself has been vital to keeping everything going. One of my favorite quotes lately is “you can’t fill from an empty glass”. Keeping yourself inspired and fulfilled seems to just make everything easier.

Please tell us about Bubbles & Bones by Stephanie Lynn Lassalle.
My lifestyle blog “Bubbles & Bones by Stephanie Lynn Lassalle” – is truly my “lifestyle” I share pieces of my life, product reviews, size inclusive fashion, travel, home decor and more. The name comes from my love of champagne “bubbles” and my canine best friend named Bones – who is never far from my side and makes cameos in much of my content. My Instagram is an extension of the blog with a bit more frequent content!

I have been very fortunate to be able to collaborate with some amazing brands and organizations and really love sharing what works and what doesn’t work for me in the makeup, beauty and fashion realm.

I also frequently write about topics like being ok with loving your 9-5, self-doubt, body image, anxiety, navigating the world of adult friendship and more. My goal is to be a go-to resource for all the little nuances in life. We are all in this together and creating a supportive, honest and authentic community is my ultimate dream. I love getting DM’s and feedback from people about a beauty hack they loved and even more so, when someone says something reached/touched them in a positive way.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Do not compare your page one to someones chapter 15. Early on in both my professional career and my blog, I was so focused on the end goal that I lost sight of the right now. I wanted instant gratification and quick results, but I quickly found those methods weren’t sustainable nor were they my best.

By staying focused on the here and now I was able to learn much faster and master skills quicker. Hard work has never let me down. There is no quick fix or jumping ahead, in really anything, in life. The most fulfilling thing in the world is knowing you worked hard for something and accomplished it. I am not saying to not have huge abundant goals (because you will get there!) but enjoy the process. Enjoy the beginnings – they are truly magic!
