Meet Andrea Carmona

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Carmona.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’ve always had a passion for photography! For as long as I can remember I had a camera in my hand taking pictures of friends and family. It was truly a hobby for me, I didn’t really start to delve in deep into the education part of photography until last year. I made the jump into taking photography to the next level when I became pregnant with my daughter.

I knew I wanted to pursue my passion further and I would have the time to do so during my leave from my corporate job. I named by business Andi Carr Photography, a lot of people don’t know this story so this is the perfect way to share it! My first name is Andrea and growing up I always had the nickname of Dre but my mom wanted my nickname to be Andi. She thought it was such a cute nickname and I always said no lol. My mom is a huge inspiration to me so granted, when I started searching for the perfect business name for myself I thought why not use Andi haha my mom would love that! So, I shortened my first name to Andi and my last name of Carmona to Carr and there you have it!

I started my professional photography journey just shooting family sessions and gradually took on different clients which brought me to couples and eventually making that leap into the wedding industry. It’s been a fun filled year and I’ve met so many amazing people. I honestly love what I do! There is something so fulfilling for me when I can capture special moments for my clients. I truly feel lucky!

Please tell us about your art.
I am a photographer and I capture those special moments when you are looking into the eyes of your children and see pure joy. I capture those amazing moments when you are staring at the love of your life and can’t help but smile with twinkles in your eyes. I love raw emotion and unposed candid moments. Those are truly my favorite! I shoot many different sessions right now but I primarily focus on couples, engagements, elopements and weddings. When my clients look at their photos from me I want them to feel the exact feelings they felt at that moment. I want them to remember one of the best times in their life. I love when my clients fall in love with their photos. It makes me want to keep going and share my talent more.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
For me it’s a few things, I think getting better at marketing is a challenge. I love what I do so much that sometimes the business aspect of it, like getting my name out there more, might suffer. Also like many photographers the thief of comparison can get you at times. It is important to realize that you are you and even if there are a plethora of photographers out there no one can do it like you! We need to embrace our talents and create our own lane with our creativity and I’ve definitely learned to follow that message now.
