Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Scher.
Justin, before we jump into specific questions about the company, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
12 years ago, I decided to essentially “start over”, to start a completely new career at the age of 36 and follow my passion/dream. I realized after a life of soul searching, I wanted to be “The Dog Whisperer”. I was inspired by Cesar Milan, “The Dog Whisperer”. He had a reality show on the National Geographic channel that I watched and was inspired by. This guy, Cesar, would work with all types of dogs with various, and in many cases, very serious behavior issues and he would seem to resolve them extremely quickly. For me, he was the first to talk in depth about dog psychology, and how to resolve behavior issues by seeing the world from THEIR perspective and by communicating to them in THEIR language. But even further, the language of “THE PACK LEADER”. I was always blown away by what he was doing. I felt that if THIS WAS REAL, and someone were to teach me how to do it, I would devote my entire life to the craft. I found my calling… Why not learn how to do what Cesar was doing? This is what led me to Bark Busters Home Dog Training out of Australia. This was my opportunity to manifest my dream. The methods were created over 30 years ago by Sylvia and Danny Wilson. I feel very grateful to have found my calling. I’ve devoted my life to this craft since starting in 2008. I never stop learning or improving and it still amazes me how quickly I can help turn around pretty much any dog behavior and how much of a profound impact it has on the lives of both clients and their dogs. I have won Bark Busters International Dog Therapist/Trainer of the year in 2014 and 2016 as well as US Trainer/Therapist of the Year for 2010, 2014, 2016, 2017. I’ve been booked out two to three months in advance for over five years and it continues to blow my mind to be where I am, living my dream.
Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve been fortunate to have success very early in my career because, with all honesty, the Bark Busters methods I use are so effective. But I am a VERY tough critic on myself. I didn’t truly feel confident in my ability and in what I was doing until I hit the ten year mark. Nothing trumps experience and at the ten year mark, I felt I had enough experience under my belt that I’ve pretty much seen it all thousands of times.

Bark Busters is a dog training company that started in Australia over 30 years ago. We specialize in resolving all types of dog behavior issues like barking, jumping, dog and people aggression, separation anxiety, how to raise a puppy as examples. I am SO grateful to have done my research and to have come across Bark Busters. I wanted to be a dog psychologist/specialist. I wanted to teach people how to communicate with their dogs without bribing them with treats or without hurting them with any type of training device. I teach people/humans how to communicate and correct behavior issues using THE ONLY LANGUAGE their dogs know, and that’s a DOG! I show my clients videos of pack leaders in a pack of dogs and how they interact with other/lower members of the pack. There’s a video of a Golden Retriever mother educating her pups, she’s teaching them boundaries and corrects their unwanted behaviors in a primal language, as her puppies pack leader. Ultimately I teach my clients how to communicate and be like her!
