Meet Trailblazer Volldrauf

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shervin Bahmanipour.

Shervin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Thank you for having me. If you’ve been hearing my story through my music for the past several years, I want to thank you. Although I get the most pleasure sharing all the feels through speakers with you, it’s important we get to know each other a little more. I was born and raised in Germany for the first 13 years of my life. Then my Iranian/German family moved to the US. It’s a blessing and a curse. But more of a blessing for my creative life because I feel at home with three very different cultures.

It was a “curse-ish” hah! Because I was thrown into public school as soon as we got to the US. I had trouble making friends in the States since I didn’t know any English or fit into the “clicks” to be friends with anyone. So you could say my teenage years were not your typical teenage years. School became an awful place really fast. The constant heartbreaks and manipulations people pulled on me was enough to say “enough is enough!”

I knew I couldn’t be happy with the people at school so I created an Alias online and started putting mixes out. It wasn’t under the name “Volldrauf” at the time, but it started my music career. I was getting lots of good feedback which fueled my confidence and gave me a sense of purpose. I soon realized that this could become my CAREER and my FUTURE! Of course, I had to plan out how I can make this a possibility for myself. How could I, out of all people, become a successful DJ or Producer?! In such a saturated market!

I don’t think of myself as anything special nor do I think I am the “sh*t”! I’m really not. I just worked really hard towards my dreams and spent all my money on equipment, ads or other investments for what I have today. Took me for f*cking ever! But, I think we are on a steady path now.

The other issue was Family. I know that my family wanted me to go to school and become and Engineer or Doctor, but that would never make me happy in the end. They are very supportive now as they see how hard I’ve worked for my music career.

I have struggled a lot in life and I know every one of you has your own struggles too. The important thing to me is that I enjoy the music I produce and let my emotions flow through my imaginative mind. I love that people can relate to me or my emotions and it makes me happy knowing that my music had made a big impact on others. Or even just made one person smile today! That’s where my passion lies.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
*Laughs* It’s never been a smooth road. More like fixing potholes and just ensuring that you get from point A to point B as smooth as possible.

I know you hear this very often, but the following cliché couldn’t be any truer!
You have to work hard but smart. Don’t try to make everything perfect. Delegate the work if you can be +80% satisfied with the final product of their work. Be yourself and do exactly what YOU want. Not what others tell you to do. You are in control of your own life! Don’t waste it.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
My work is available on almost every platform out there. All you have to do is search for “Volldrauf,” which translates to “lit” in german. This was well before “lit” became a thing. You can view the phrase “Voll Drauf” as being “lit” or the music being “lit.” In the end, I make all sorts of sounds that get sent through the Internet and affect humans with emotions. I’m honestly most proud of myself for following through on what I want in life. What sets me apart is that I am doing it out of pure passion telling you MY story and emotions.

Which women have inspired you in your life?
Does my mom count? Not even kidding. She is definitely the person that inspired me to do anything in life. Other than my mom, I get inspired by Elohim and REZZ! Both of them have built an amazing Careers despite what other people have told them to do. Women DJs are not taken seriously for the most part, but these two definitely prove it to the world!
