Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Gonzalez.
Hi Gabriel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Entering the aesthetic industry was an unexpected shift in my career trajectory. As a nurse with a background in acute care, my first interaction with aesthetics was purely as a client at a medical spa. That initial exposure ignited an opportunity for me and led to skills in laser hair removal, microneedling, fractional lasers, photofacials, and, eventually, injectables. The more I learned, the deeper my investment with the aesthetic field grew. Although I strived to advance in hospital settings, facing rejections from ED and ICU applications it prompted a pivotal shift in my focus toward aesthetics. Now, as an FNP student, I bring four years of aesthetic experience to the table, a combination of past and newly honed skills.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has certainly had its share of rough patches. In my experience, life’s journey is replete with challenges; it’s the struggle that prevents stagnation and allows one to grow. One of the most daunting obstacles is the fear of failure, a fear many of us share. But I’ve learned that with a strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous learning, the possibility of failure diminishes. Overcoming obstacles becomes an integral part of the journey, and with each challenge, resilience builds.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a registered nurse, my area of expertise lies in aesthetic medicine. This field, often perceived as solely focused on enhancing physical attributes for “looking pleasing” or anti-aging runs much deeper in its impact on individuals’ lives. While aesthetic treatments are not a necessity, they play a significant role in elevating a person’s self-esteem and overall well-being.
What truly sets me apart in this industry is not just my technical skill but also my dedication to listening and responding to each patient’s unique concerns. My practice is not driven by the quantity of treatments I can sell; rather, it is grounded in developing a treatment plan that aligns with the realistic expectations and personal goals of my patients.
I take great pride in the trust that patients place in me and in the relationships we build together. There is a great satisfaction that comes from seeing a patient’s joy and boost of confidence following a treatment that I have provided. This connection and the positive change I can foster in someone’s confidence is what I find most rewarding.
As I continue to grow professionally, I often reflect on how I can make a meaningful contribution to the world. Through my work in aesthetics, I’ve found my answer: by supporting individuals in feeling their best, I am making a tangible, positive difference—one patient at a time.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
To those embarking on their professional journey, I offer three pieces of advice:
1. Invest your time and energy into your passions. When you love what you do, the effort you put in feels natural, and the rewards are substantial.
2. Cultivate loyalty as part of your character, not as a transactional currency to expect something in return, but as a trait that enriches your professional and personal life. People will truly appreciate this.
3. Education builds a foundation of credibility and expertise. However, the true mark of a professional is the dedication to continuous learning. It is essential to keep updating your knowledge to stay relevant in your field.
