Today we’d like to introduce you to Francesca Serraino Fiory.
Hi Francesca, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Rome, Italy, and my journey into healing has been anything but straightforward. I actually started out in science—I have a PhD in Materials Engineering and degrees in Chemistry—and for years I worked in leadership roles in the pharmaceutical industry, with companies like Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson.
That experience gave me a great understanding of Western medicine, but deep down, I knew something was missing. I loved the science, but I craved a more human, heart-centered connection to health and healing.
Then, about 26 years ago, I was in a really bad car accident in Rome. During my recovery, I discovered Shiatsu therapy and Chinese Medicine, and it completely changed my life. For the first time, I felt seen—not just as a diagnosis, but as a whole person. That experience opened a door that I just couldn’t close.
I started studying Eastern medicine out of pure passion, and eventually that path brought me all the way to California, where I earned my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. In California, I kept studying other energy healing modalities, and the deeper I went, the more it felt like coming home.
Now I practice at Everwell Acupuncture in Solana Beach, a beautiful, heart-filled clinic I share with four other incredible women who are also practitioners and friends. We’ve created a space where healing feels personal, collaborative, and real.
Looking back, I can see that every part of my journey—even the hard or unexpected ones—was leading me here. Today I get to live my purpose, helping people feel seen, supported, and deeply cared for. That’s what healing means to me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all! But honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way. Every twist and turn had a reason. This is my second career and my second continent! Moving from a corporate role in Rome to starting over in California was a big leap. But I always felt this pull toward healing, even when I tried to ignore it. When I was still in pharma, I’d sneak in Chinese Medicine classes after work just because I loved it.
It took me a while to fully follow my heart, and that’s okay. I always tell my niece—she’s 13—“don’t rush, and don’t live your life for other people’s expectations.” The things that are meant for you will keep showing up until you’re ready to say yes.
So, no—it wasn’t a smooth road. But it was the right one. Everything happened at the perfect time, and I’m grateful for every step.
As you know, we’re big fans of Dr Francesca Serraino Fiory Acupuncture @ Everwell. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Everwell Acupuncture is our new holistic clinic in Solana Beach. It’s a really special place—five women practitioners coming together with the same vision: to create a warm, healing space where people feel seen and cared for on every level. I come from both science and holistic medicine. I bring that Western understanding into my Eastern practice, so I really try to meet patients wherever they are—mind, body, and spirit.
What I love most is personalizing each session. No two treatments are the same. It’s about listening deeply, being present, and creating space for people to reconnect with themselves.
I’m most proud of the relationships that form through this work. Healing is such an intimate process—it’s about trust and connection. I feel so lucky to do what I do every day.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think we’re heading into a really exciting time. People are starting to realize that true healing isn’t just physical—it’s emotional, energetic, and spiritual too. I also see more Western doctors wanting to integrate holistic approaches because they’re frustrated by systems that rush patients through care. Acupuncture and Eastern medicine can really bridge that gap—it brings the human element back into healthcare.
In the next few years, I think we’ll see more collaboration and integration between Eastern and Western medicine, and more focus on connection, presence, and touch. People are craving authenticity in a world that often feels disconnected.
To me, the future of medicine is about blending science and soul. Real healing happens when people feel deeply seen and cared for—and that’s where I think our industry is headed.
