Hi Akayaa, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
When I wake up warm up and go teach dance.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Akayaa Atule. Born and raised in Ghana West African. I was raised in a Village. My father was a Master Drummer in our village. I learn how to dance as soon as I took my first step as a Child. So I grew up with the Music as an early age. As of today in my village my family has their traditional group. I am from the Frafra tribe located in the upper East Region of Ghana.

When I went to College I decided to master in Dance and Music. I teach at SDSU, City College, SCPA and many Elementary Schools in San Diego County. The name of my Band is called Akayaa and Bolga Zohdoomah ( friends of my village)
I Started the Band 25 years ago. We features High Life music. Music that makes people want to dance ! Even though you don’t understand the language. But Music is a Universal language…

I am the founder/Director and the lead singer. We sing the songs in 5 different languages.. We have Music for every occasion. I would love to travel and share my music throughout the States. ( The USA ) We are very unique. We have Perform at the San Zoo Safari Park from 2020-2022 Looking for a Manager/Booking Agent.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My father.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
My Children and My Students.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes When I am on Stage. I give it all out and having fun. I like to get the audience participation and is Authentic.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I was a good Mother, friend, Teacher and a Performer. And that I always have a Nice smile and Happy all the time.
