Devereaux Jennings shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Devereaux , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The beginning of each day starts with a breakfast for my lady, a chapter of the current book I am reading, and then off to the gym. My love has pushed me away from phones and loud noises in the morning and it’s been very refreshing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
DGTL CLR (digital color) is an indie electronic project I started back in 2018, and I still throw shows in non conventional places to give listeners the chance to hear music in nature or places you wouldn’t likely hear music. I pair my music with visuals that I project onto walls or areas where I am playing to give depth to the music while also being exposed to amphitheater of nature.
I am proud to announce my next show on September 7th in Solana Beach at sunset. It will be another wonderful moment to take in the ocean and sounds of DGTL CLR that you wouldn’t experience anywhere else.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Life is a constant change, and we evolve as we grow causing us to go down different roads. Our roots in what we love keep us connected to the primitive relationships we started with. One thing that will always bring us together is the appreciation for each other.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
The power in story telling is forever magnificent. Music is another element of storytelling, and when I broke through the barrier of caring about what other people thought, my music became genuine, authentic, and allowed other people to connect with it.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Rick Rubin! He always sees the best in other artists and is able to pull that out of them when recording. A true talent in my opinion. He holds Yoda secrets in his character.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
This guy never gave up! He pushed others to be creative and expand the boundaries of what it is to be different. Life is short and the most valuable thing we have is time.
