An Inspired Chat with Gisell Saavedra of El Cajon

Gisell Saavedra shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Gisell, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me right now is pretty balanced. Scripture medication reading to start my day. I’m keeping my focus on building small, meaningful micro-goals that support both my faith and my overall wellness. Each day I try to make a little progress spiritually and mentally.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a Certified Permanent Brow Makeup Artist based in East San Diego County, specializing in creating beautifully defined brows and my Signature Projection & Curvature Lash Lift. My work goes beyond enhancing features—I focus on blending artistry with holistic wellness to create timeless, natural beauty that empowers each client to feel confident in their own skin. With every service, my goal is to provide not only results that look effortless and refined but also an experience that feels restorative and personal.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I’ve found that bonds often break when trust or care fades, but they’re restored when both people choose to show up with honesty, patience, and love.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
I was born and raised in a Jehovah’s Witness family, and my parents set a powerful example for me through their faith and dedication. Whenever I felt sad or scared, especially when facing challenges from childhood into adulthood, turning to God became my source of comfort and strength. Knowing I could bring my questions and fears to Him—and staying dedicated even when I stumbled—has helped me build a stronger bond with Him that continues to guide and uplift me.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The beauty industry loves to sell perfection, making us think we’re never enough without the latest products or treatments. But real beauty isn’t about chasing trends—it’s about enhancing what’s already yours and feeling confident in your own skin.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
I wish I had taken the chance to explore my passion and build my own business. It’s tough to step out of my comfort zone and follow my dreams instead of staying safe with a job.
