Gustavo, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
My normal day right now is waking up early and start preparing breakfast for my daughters. Then, I take them to school and I start organizing my day. I get ready to see my agenda and see what we need to buy, prepare and logistics for my pizza catering events of the week. Then I go!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Of course! Well, We are Gustavo and Joshie, the brothers behind Brothers in Pizza, a mobile wood-fired catering company serving up unforgettable food experiences all across San Diego County.
Our journey started over a decade ago in the kitchen of a French restaurant, where we first met and began cooking side by side. From there, our paths took us through a variety of kitchens — mastering Italian, Californian, New American, Mexican, Mediterranean, French, and Asian cuisines. We’ve managed restaurants together, learned from every dish we plated, and often dreamed of one day stepping away from the fast-paced restaurant world to cook with fire — baking bread, making simple, honest food, and sharing it with others in a more personal and meaningful way
What seemed like a far-off dream became a reality last year when the opportunity finally arrived — and we couldn’t say no.
Brothers in Pizza is the product of years of culinary experience and personal history. It’s not just about great food — it’s about our story. Joshie comes from a family of bakers and brings with him a legacy of hard work and tradition. Gustavo adds an unmatched attention to detail and a deep passion for customer service. Together, we’ve created a brand that’s rooted in authenticity, flavor, and connection.
Specializing in handcrafted wood fire pizzas, fresh pastas, and zesty salads, we cook everything on-site using a blend of oak and almond wood in our stunning 2-ton brick and copper oven — which cooks pizzas to perfection in just about 2 minutes.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
YES, being very busy sometimes is hard to concentrate on what really matters, it could be overwhelming. I believe that could be the reason to give up. When I feel like that I only set my priorities and go again.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think they would say that I am a hard working individual. I really like and enjoy what I do. Everything I am and do is for the well-being of my family, the most important part in my life.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most peace when is about 30 minutes before I go to sleep. Its a great feeling when I know my bed is waiting for me. Also, when we do walks at the park or beach with my family of 4.
