Jasmine Smith shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
I’ve never lived by the beach before until now. It’s so peaceful and I’m forever grateful that I live in San Diego county. I’ve made it a goal to get to the beach at least once a week and just take it in. At first, it was about how beautiful the sunset is but it’s become a sort of recharge for me. I can lose track of time, take in the sounds of the waves, and let the light breeze hit me. It’s become more of a reset and relaxation.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi there! I’m Jasmine Smith, the heart and hustle behind Events with Jaz —your go-to wedding and event coordinator for celebrations that are anything but cookie-cutter. I plan and execute unforgettable events with a mix of creativity, calm, and just the right amount of jazz.
Whether it’s a dreamy wedding, a bold black-tie bash, quinceañera, or a birthday soirée, I live for what happens when great planning meets personal touches. What makes my work special? I treat every event like it’s my own—full of heart, thoughtfully detailed, and stress-free for my clients.
Right now, I’m working on new partnerships that’ll bring even more sparkle to the planning and party process. I can’t wait to share what new things are coming.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Growing up, I heard a lot of “you are too much, you are too loud, you are too enthusiastic”. I really felt like there was a period of time where I was overly aware of my “too much-ness” and tried to tone it down a little bit. I no longer believe I am any of those. I’ve found my circle of people and have found a career in event planning and coordination where I get to be my clients’ number one cheerleader. I am where I’m supposed to be.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me things success never could. When everything is running smoothly, it’s easy to feel confident but the hard seasons have taught me to slow down, listen more deeply, and move forward with intention.
It’s given me depth, perspective, and a kind of strength I didn’t know I had.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Is the public version of me the real me? Mostly— the version you see at events or on Instagram is definitely me: upbeat, organized, and ready to smooth out any wrinkle on a wedding day. But behind the scenes? I’m also a proud couch potato with a serious love for movie marathons and dark chocolate. It’s all about balance.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
I’ll regret not saying yes to things that scare me just a little but bring me joy and excitement.
