An Inspired Chat with Jennifer Dineen-Cosh of North County

Jennifer Dineen-Cosh shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Jennifer, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My twins! my husband and I have 16 month old twins and its been a joy watching them grow and learn

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Jennifer, the founder of Bleu Oak Charcuterie—a small but passionate catering business based right here in North County San Diego. Bleu Oak was born from my love for creating beautiful, memorable food experiences, especially during the most meaningful moments in life.

What makes us unique? We blend artistry with flavor, designing elevated charcuterie spreads that go beyond the board. Each table is thoughtfully curated with premium ingredients, natural elements, and a touch of elegance that reflects our signature style, a refined yet welcoming presentation.

As a mom of twins and a husband and wife small business, every platter I craft is filled with heart and hustle. Whether it’s for a wedding, corporate gathering, or intimate celebration, I’m honored to help make your event unforgettable. Right now, I’m focused on expanding our corporate catering offerings while staying true to the hands-on, boutique feel our clients love.

Thanks for following along and I can’t wait to graze with you soon!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Honestly, it might sound cliché, but my parents taught me everything about work ethic. Watching them juggle full-time jobs while raising four kids showed me what real hustle looks like. I started helping out at a family friend’s floral business when I was just 12 during summer breaks, and by 15, I had my first official job. I’ve been working hard ever since, it’s just in my DNA.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of failure, without a doubt. It’s that quiet voice in the back of your mind that makes you second-guess yourself or hesitate before taking a leap, or making a decision. For a long time, and sometimes still, I let it hold me back from fully chasing dreams or putting myself out there. But over time, I’ve learned that growth only happens when you’re willing to step outside your comfort zone, even if it means things might not go perfectly.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
In many ways, yes, but it’s definitely the more polished version. I’m naturally shy and more introverted than people might expect, especially for someone in a client-facing business. So showing up publicly, promoting my work, and putting myself out there doesn’t always come easy. What you see is real, the passion, the hustle, the care, but behind the scenes, I’m constantly pushing myself past fear, self-doubt, and the urge to stay in my comfort zone. I’ve learned to be visible for the sake of my business and my dreams, but that quiet, more reserved side of me is still very much there. The real me has lots of messy moments, doubts, and days where I’m just figuring it out just like everyone else.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d stop doubting myself, no question. Self-doubt has stolen too much time, too many opportunities, and too much peace. If I knew the clock was ticking, I’d fully trust my gut, take the risks, and stop holding back. Life’s too short to second-guess your own worth or play small.
