An Inspired Chat with Jimmy Pang

Jimmy Pang shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Jimmy, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is a mix of patient care, marketing, and a lot of driving. I provide physical therapy services in the home so I’m always on the road. I also drop by various healthcare clinics to introduce myself as a means of networking – usually with freshly baked cookies so I don’t show up empty handed. So I bake a lot too.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a mobile physical therapist who specializes in treating dizziness, vertigo, and headache disorders. It’s a very niche service that differs greatly from most musculoskeletal providers. I am on a mission to spread awareness about headache and vestibular disorders as they are both very common without the proper visibility. Physical therapy intervention is one of the most effective forms of treatment we have but there is a huge lack of awareness.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I am actually a chronic headache patient. I also live with more diffuse chronic pain as well. It was pretty bad and I was out of work for years before turning things around. I’m now running my own business although I do have to pace my days. If anything the whole experience has taught me patience. It took me over five years to find a highly effective treatment. I still have a long way to go but I know if I don’t give up and keep trying things something will come around.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
I would say my treatment techniques have changed through out the years. Part of it is reviewing of the latest evidence but on some level I could also tell when certain techniques I used weren’t delivering the results I wanted. I think I have shifted how I treat the disorders I treat over time and it’s important to adapt as there’s always so much more to learn.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My friends would say that I highly value discipline and being intentional with one’s actions. It is easy to succumb to bad habits but in the long run that only makes life more difficult. Making hard choices now ultimately leads to a better life.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would probably stop pushing myself too hard. I don’t think I could not work entirely but I’d probably tone it down a bit to do more of the things that matter like spending time with family and friends.
