We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kikue Misite. Check out our conversation below.
Kikue, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I think a lot of people quietly struggle with the idea that caring about how they look somehow means they don’t fully love themselves “how they are” or that they’re “insecure.”
You’ll hear it in little disclaimers like, “I’m already happy with how I look, I just want to soften this wrinkle…” or “I’m not trying to look 20 again, I just want to lift my lower face.” It’s almost like society makes us feel the need to soften or justify wanting to look good in the mirror.
But focusing on your appearance doesn’t mean you’re motivated by insecurity. Those two things are not inherent opposites, and I think a lot of people struggle with grasping this because society shames us for it.
The most confident people I know are not trying to become someone else when getting aesthetic treatments. They exercise, eat well, get haircuts, invest in self-care… that takes intention and discipline. And that is absolutely a form of self-respect.
Loving yourself and wanting to look your best can exist at the same time. In many cases, they actually go hand in hand.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Kikue, the Lead Clinician at Fiora Aesthetics, and I help you feel like your best self through medical aesthetics. I focus on things like facial rejuvenation and aging gracefully – always in a way that feels natural and true to you.
Our patient’s feel truly seen because we listen and honor their features. Everyone’s face is unique, shaped by ethnicity, genetics, and time, so we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. For example, Kylie Jenner is gorgeous but I’ll tell you if her lips would look crazy on your face…or they might not! That’s why we really focus on creating a treatment plan that fits your anatomy perfectly.
It’s not about changing you – it’s about uplifting you. That’s what we do at Fiora Aesthetics.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world was when I realized that the frequency and vibration we emit matters. What does that mean?
It’s not just about what you want – it’s about who you are. If you genuinely care about people, give sincere compliments, show kindness, and approach life with intention, you naturally attract more of the same energy. If you’re driven, disciplined, and respectful to others, you naturally attract more of that too. There are moments when I look back at my younger self and cringe at how rude, lazy, or impatient I was. But it’s those moments that taught me to see the world in a more mindful and intentional light.
I try to live that in both work and life. With my clients, I intentionally keep communication open so they feel comfortable communicating with me before, during, and after treatments. I genuinely care about their results and how they feel, and they care about me back. I’m even this way with strangers, cashiers at the grocery store or the waitress taking my food order. I can literally see the vibration in an entire room change just from one person’s positive energy, and this really shapes how I see and, more importantly, live in the world.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how to be successful. You grow more from failure than the easy wins. I’m going to sound like my grandpa here, but honestly, people today are so afraid of discomfort. Our schools even teach kids that everyone’s a winner and, while that sounds nice, I think it ultimately sets people up for failure.
Those who understand that suffering and discomfort are necessary for growth will be successful. Suffering taught me that everything happens for a reason, and that what feels hard or uncomfortable in the moment is really just setting you up for success down the line.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
The “Gambatte spirit” (pronounced ganbatte or ganbaru) is a central part of my Japanese culture and mindset. At its core, it’s about doing your best, persevering, and not giving up, even when things are hard. You see this a lot in anime (nerd alert, HA!) and, for all my Physical Asia fans, the Japan team totally brought this to the show, yelling it out and totally crushing it. Samurais, martial artists…they all have it.
It’s less about winning or being perfect and more about effort, resilience, and dedication. It encourages people to keep pushing forward, stay committed, and give their all no matter the obstacles.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Omg I love this question. I love inspiring people to feel confident – not just in how they look – but in their capability to go after all the things they’ve been dreaming about. When people share their goals and dreams with me I get excited (sometimes overly excited, hehe) brainstorming how we can get there. Helping people feel abundant in what they already have but inspired to achieve more is what I love to do, and I hope people are left with this feeling when I’m gone.
I’ve actually always been like this. When I was a yoga instructor, I’d have uplifting themes in my classes like gratitude and abundance. When I was 19 and working at Starbucks, I purposely remembered the names and drinks of all my regulars and would have their drink ready before they even got to the register – just so they could start their day feeling special and energized with their coffee ready. At Fiora Aesthetics, I easily see your natural beauty and love accentuating it.
So the story I hope people tell about me is that I uplifted them, even in the little everyday moments when I wasn’t around. That I helped them feel abundant in what they already have but inspired to always strive for more.
