We’re looking forward to introducing you to Marc Emmelmann. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Marc , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me with my 5-year-old American Akita (who’s been by my side since she was 8 weeks old), playing Sunday softball in the America’s Finest City Softball League, or watching a Padres game.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Marc Emmelmann, and I’m a marketing and business consultant who thrives on building creative and heart-driven projects. For the past four years, I’ve served as VP of Brothers Grimm Seeds, a legacy cannabis genetics company in Colorado, where I’ve expanded the digital footprint, increased revenue, and helped build standout brand collaborations with names like Trailer Park Boys and Purple City Genetics. On the creative side, I named our rookie strain “Ocifer” (a playful twist on Officer), which has since earned a spot in our premium catalog.
Last month, I also signed on as a marketing consultant with Saving Grace CBD, another Colorado company I’ve respected since first trying their products back in 2018. I’ll be spearheading a full digital revamp — from SEO and email to social media, affiliate programs, and wholesale sales — with the goal of scaling revenue and expanding reach.
What makes my work unique is how relationship-driven it is. I actually connected with both Brothers Grimm Seeds and Saving Grace CBD through my old Green Carpet Growing podcast, where I built authentic relationships by interviewing experts and sharing cannabis and CBD education. My Green Carpet Growing journey was profiled in SD Voyager many years ago, which highlighted my work in home-grow consulting and cannabis education.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was stumbling into search engine optimization shortly after moving to San Diego in 2008. At the time, I was juggling countless jobs — from sales gigs and brand ambassador shifts to marketing and admin work with the San Diego Performing Arts League. But when I discovered search engine marketing, something instantly clicked. I picked it up fast and delivered results that amazed both me and my clients. Helping small businesses land on page one of Google for their dream search terms gave me a rush of power and purpose and it set the course for the next chapter of my career.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Be unique. Be different. Be true to yourself. The Universe delivers!
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
The truth I believe in that many people don’t is that it’s always better to flow than to force. Too often, I see people burning themselves out, and even burning bridges, by resisting what is, complaining about what isn’t, and trying to push outcomes into place too quickly. Even friendship is like a slow-ripening fruit… it takes patience.
Life has shown me that forcing rarely delivers what you want; it only creates tension, stress, and unnecessary suffering. Flow, on the other hand, is powerful. It happens when you’re not fixated on rigid expectations of how things “should” be for you. When you trust timing, trust the universe, and stop trying to force others to agree or move at your pace, doors open in ways you could never have engineered. That’s where miracles, blessings, and good fruit come from.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If immortality were real, what would you build?
If immortality were real, I’d use it to build a charity veterinary hospital where no pet is ever turned away.
