An Inspired Chat with Mr Danky D of La Jolla

We recently had the chance to connect with Mr Danky D and have shared our conversation below.

Danky, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Who are you learning from right now?
Something I am learning from right now is to pretty much a reminder to self. To always stay true to yourself and to stay true to your beliefs and way of life. A lot of times we get distracted by the idea of something else working out the best it can , that we bend and change the way certain things interfere and affect our lives. Always stay grounded and authentic and always trust your gut feelings.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Danky donuts began on a lifestyle and California way of life in that what we do is imbedded in our culture. From the way our donuts are made with local ingredients and companies we work with to the art work and vibe you get from our team, we do our best to live in love and let that show through our work and community. It’s the Danky way!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
I think I got my work ethic from my parents and watching them hustle and struggle though out my upbringing and knowing that I wanted to provide more as well as do more for those around me

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering teaches us to stick through the tough times and it is what ultimately makes us unbreakable, depending on the life experiences and circumstances you go through shows you and forms you into what you become. Diamonds are made under pressure!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public me and the real me are both one in one , that is also an answer I provided earlier which is always staying true to
Yourself. You should not have to alter yourself to make people like you or think otherwise.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Man , to live in this question would be better for the entire world , I believe it would be a better place if people cut out what doesn’t serve them in being the best versions of themselves. This question would loook differently for everyone, but for me, would be to enjoy everyday and live in the present. It’s what I been working on lately but does sometimes get out of control when you are working on building something bigger than yourself.
