An Inspired Chat with Sascha Ploder & Sibylle Ploder

We recently had the chance to connect with Sascha Ploder & Sibylle Ploder and have shared our conversation below.

Sascha & Sibylle, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
That with The Raclette Stand we’re not only serving up delicious melted cheese. We help you discover one of the most loved traditional dishes from Switzerland which is always enjoyed best in good company of family and friends.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are Sascha and Sibylle Ploder, a husband and wife proprietor duo and we are both born and raised in the German part in Switzerland. From our point of view the most important factor behind the success of our brand The Raclette Stand is that we are serving the most traditional and delicious melted cheese dish from Switzerland in a very authentic and personable way. The appearance of our food stand set-up is truly unique with our catchy logo and design and we are proudly representing a small artisan Swiss creamery which produces extraordinary Raclette cheese.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The inner “Bünzli” in both of us which is a uniquely Swiss German cultural concept and amongst other things can be related to a person who is known to be a conformist and highly values routine.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Countless times over and over again. But you always have to believe in yourself and your strong abilities – and most of all you have to trust the process.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Equality.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
Every time we see all the happy faces of our customers enjoying our Raclette dishes.
