Tawny, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
These days I’m usually up around 5:00 am to take care of my high needs dog and cat, exercise, answer emails, and warm-up before getting camera ready. Then I’m in the studio for most of the day while my assistant, manager, and pet’s nanny are working either on site with me or remotely. I try to make time in between recording sessions, writing, and meetings to spend time with my animals and go on a walk! The really fun days are the ones where I’m going to events to promote movies/shows or appearing at conventions.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a voice actor and content creator with over 1.4 million followers across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. I was in my first commercial locally when I was just an infant and then was cast as a voice over talent in a commercial for a radio station. I went full time into voice acting and content creation at the end of 2016 and have worked with clients like HULU, Disney+, Angry Birds, Genshin Impact, and more! I also recently wrapped recording for several characters in the upcoming sequel to the video game “Symphony of War”
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I used to believe as a kid that I had to fit in this box where everyone wanted me to fit. I started creating my own opportunities in entertainment and took my career into my own hands so I could be a part of the projects I was really passionate about. It was tough for a few years but it ended up being one of the best choices I ever made.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Definitely. I had a few really tough years in my personal life as a caretaker and battling some health issues. At one point, I was one bad month away from living in my car. I was really lucky to have a few good friends who stepped in and helped me get back on my feet.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Not at all and I always thought it was really obvious I was playing a character but a lot of people think my internet persona is the real me. I’m not nearly that deadpan in real life!
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I’m actually extremely introverted and I have to do a lot of prep work to be as social as my industry requires. When I’m done with all my meetings for the day, I love walking my dog through the canyons right outside my home and just taking in nature.
