We recently had the chance to connect with Valencia Snow and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Valencia, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Getting lost in a really good TV show or movie series. When the story pulls me in, time disappears, my mind quiets, and I get to fully reset. It’s one of the few moments where I can just exist and reconnect with myself.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Valencia Snow a creative entrepreneur, brand builder, and storyteller. I’m the founder of The Flavor Plug, a culinary brand rooted in culture, creativity, and connection, as well as So Icy Nailz, where wellness, nail care, and intentional service intersect. Everything I build is about elevating everyday experiences whether that’s through flavor, self-care, or community. My work is deeply personal, inspired by resilience, loss, and transformation, and I’m currently focused on expanding my brands in ways that honor both creativity and purpose.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds break when communication fades, expectations go unspoken, and unhealed wounds take the lead. Ego, silence, fear, and assumptions create distance when people stop showing up authentically and reacting from pain instead of understanding. What restores connection is honesty, accountability, empathy, and the willingness to truly listen choosing vulnerability and compassion over defensiveness, and understanding over being right.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
When I was sad or scared as a child, music was my refuge. I would cry and sing at the same time, using my voice to release what I couldn’t put into words. Singing helped me calm myself, process my emotions, and eventually find my way back to peace. Music didn’t just comfort me it helped me survive and find strength in difficult moments.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Healing myself without rushing the process. I’m committed to doing the inner work, breaking cycles, and creating a healthier version of myself, no matter the timeline.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I understand empathy deeply not as sympathy, but as presence. It’s about seeing people where they are, honoring their experiences, and responding with compassion instead of assumptions.
