An Inspired Chat with Veronica Lee of North County, working virtually

Veronica Lee shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Veronica, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
This summer, I’ve been enjoying re-reading Dragonball manga and swimming in the ocean. I tend to put all my energy into work and learning, but I have been taking the time to slow down and enjoy life more and am grateful to live somewhere with such beautiful beaches.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a health coach and enjoy drawing from many studies of health including functional medicine, applied quantum biology, mineral balancing, and German New Medicine. I healed myself naturally from three chronic conditions and want to show others how to do the same and take full responsibility for their health and wellness.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was an observer and learner and quite adventerous. I enjoyed studying many things, from art to science before I felt pressure from the world to pick a lane. In college I studied psychology, business institutions, and environmental policy. And my career path has been a process of following my varied interests. From environmental nonprofits, to digital design, and now health and wellbeing.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self who was pretty shy, it would be that many good things are on the other side of taking risks. People aren’t as scary as they seem, and what I learn from getting uncomfortable builds self-reliance and helps me lighten up.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
That the earth is flat. JUST KIDDING! But I can’t say I personally know what shape the earth is… Anyway I believe that our thoughts create our reality, and there can be several truths. I believe that people can prove things for themselves in their personal experience, and that is the responsibility of each individual.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What pain do you resist facing directly?
I have recently discovered that I tend to avoid sadness because I feel like I am embarassingly sensitive. It’s easier for me to access anger and other emotions. But what I have gained from learning how to feel and process sadness is a greater depth of positive emotions too. I think Carl Jung said something along the lines of you can only grow as high as you are willing to go deep. I finally understand what people mean by the shadow, it’s parts of yourself that you have pushed away, judged, etc., and by acknowledging those shadow parts, we become more whole as an integrated multi-faceted human being and feel more ease in being ourselves.
