An Inspired Chat with Zach Roszczewski of Carlsbad

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Zach Roszczewski. Check out our conversation below.

Zach, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Electrolytes and coffee to get things jamming, then throw in a bountiful breakfast to get the day started off right. After getting the kids prepped for school, I head straight to the beach and catch a few waves to connect with nature and friends, and to find creative inspiration for the day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I create custom branded icon and illustration systems for companies to bring their brand to life and help them tell their story with visual bits of delight.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My dad was consistently busy with projects my whole life, teaching us how to build, landscape, and create and stay busy. At the time I thought he was a bit crazy, (which maybe he was) but it shaped me to hustle and work hard. The passion for working hard and creating epic things is now engrained into my dna.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I have always had a fear of public speaking. What I depict when I am in front of a group of my peers speaking, is eyes staring like daggers, judging my every word, movement or misstep, and I become paralyzed in analyzing what they are thinking that my mind blacks out and I can’t focus on the subject at hand.

It’s something I could work on and push through, but honestly I have realized as I get older that it’s just not one of my strengths, and I am ok with that. I don’t need to lecture an audience, as I am much better sharing and connecting with people in smaller groups and in one of one settings.

So I have learned to play to my strengths and keep it to smaller groups, and leave the public speaking to the pros.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Being a good human and sharing a smile. Sometimes that’s all it takes to make a difference in someone’s life.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
Either in the rhythm of the ocean, sharing waves with friends,

or jamming with a good playlist, in a flow state of creating where everything is coming together effortlessly, and you lose track of time and worries, only focused on the present moment.
