Today we’d like to introduce you to Al Alvarez.
Al, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My interest in photography started at a very young age when I encountered my very first film camera. I was intrigued by the process that it took to make a photograph, so I decided to explore it further. I took multiple photography classes in college both film and digital and as I got more comfortable, what started as a hobby became a career. Since then I have done various types of photography including but not limited to portraits, product photography, weddings, landscapes etc.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a product photographer by trade but I don’t like to limit myself to a single type of photography so I like to explore multiple areas. That being said, I really enjoy taking portraits of people while capturing their personality. While photographing events, my favorite pictures usually capture candid moments showing raw, organic emotions and interactions. On my free time I take my camera on hikes and typically find the opportunity for landscape photography. I wish to inspire feelings and emotions through my pictures.
What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
In my experience, there hasn’t been any challenges that have affected my work.
