Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Ollar.
Danielle, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I am an art lover and have always enjoyed the photo albums my grandparents filled up over the years. I’m just now fully stepping into my role as a photographer, at age 33, sort of picking up where my grandmother left off. It took me the last 8 or 9 years to really get over myself and jump all the way into it. I dabbled for so long before, and everyone always told me I needed to do this, but my stubborn ways never thought I was good enough until now.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My goal during every session is to capture special moments in time so that the memory of those moments can be viewed by generations to come. I love natural and candid moments the most because it brings out the true emotions in one split second or so. Natural light is also important to me. There are so many forms of light it’s amazing, and the most beautiful is when it’s already there naturally.
Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities, and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
It takes time and expensive equipment to capture these moments and I also have a family I contribute to with a wonderful husband, two kiddos and a pup to spend time with. You have to focus on the important things and do the best balancing act you can in life and in the art world.
