Today we’d like to introduce you to Darcy Bly.
Darcy, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I grew up in the backwoods of Northern Idaho near Lake Coeur d’ Alene without electricity, surrounded by pine trees, 200 head of cattle, about 1500 Rainbow Trout fish, and two eccentric parents who weren’t “gonna pay no bills”. This is where I became the wild and free=spirited, independent artist that I am today. Graduated from film school in 2011, started shooting documentaries, and now I have the great honor of capturing love stories in motion. It’s been a journey full of adversity, passion for the craft, and always the great curiosity of what’s next.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a freelance Videographer and Editor who specializes in capturing weddings from around the world. I then edit them into cinematic motion pictures. I’m in love with people from all walks of life. I know our great purpose here is just simply to LOVE and I strive to capture that. I bottle it up in movement and sound and deliver it to my couples so they can relive those moments for the rest of their lives. I’m here to serve others, and the best way I have found to do that so far is to make movies that center around celebrating love and union.
What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
A great way for me to connect with other artists has been reaching out through a simple message, “hey, I love your work. Let’s connect!”
I’ve gone to a few events around San Diego, struck up conversations, and left with a new friend.
