Today we’d like to introduce you to Shuang Li.
Shuang, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I am Shuang Li, a San Diego Watercolor Society signature member. Born, raised, and classically trained in China, I see and express life with a perspective unique to Southern California artists. After relocating from Northern California in 2003, I chose San Diego as my adopted home and fallen in love with the natural beauty around the county. After I left my corporate job to be a full-time artist, I’ve spent a significant amount of time painting locally and still inspired by the beauty around town every day.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
As a professional artist following the traditional “En Plein Air” (painting outdoors) Impressionist approach, I paint watercolors around town to capture the extraordinary variety of life locally. Many of my watercolor paintings were inspired by the poetic beauty of San Diego County. With both my classic training and contemporary techniques, I try to recreate our characteristic natural beauty and familiar landmarks, while capturing vivid moods and moments of light and color with my singular romantic, artistic expression.
