Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Allen.
Tiffany, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I wasn’t always a painter. When I was a kid, I actually wanted to be a philosopher, singer/rapper or dancer. I guess, I was always a artist of creativity though. I recently started painting back in 2017, using art as a means of healing therapy for my anxiety. I hit an obstacle in the road of life. I was trying to figure out who I was, what I was and what I wanted to become. I knew whatever I decided, I wanted to be great. I also wanted to do something that inspired other people to be their version of great, too. My biggest battle was with myself being caught up in my own mind judging myself relentlessly with no mercy. I knew that couldn’t be all there was to life was to be caught in your own well of thoughts so, I began to look for a way out.
My mom helped me a lot. She kept me here at times, when I really felt the world and everyone in it would be better off without me. I went through a whole lot of obstacles that eventually taught me, to be successful at “ACTUALLY living life” and “being happy” I needed more positivity and to focus my energy into bettering myself.
I started to focus my energy on art. I remember as a kid growing up, I had a love like no other for art. I remember one year for Christmas, I asked for nothing but paper, pens, crayons, markers and pencils. Of course, I got other goodies but I was so happy just for the art supplies. That thought motivated me to start painting. The fact that I loved art so much as a kid. It seemed so silly but eventually for me, it became everything. It became more than just therapeutic healing. I started to see, I was kind of good and the beauty I was seeing in my head, I was able to get onto paper. I painted more and more with family, with friends, with pretty much anyone who would paint with me, lol! People started noticing my art and giving me compliments. Around that time is when I realized what my calling was and what I could use to make a difference in this world. Thus, I pursued opening my own art business.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I do Paint & Sip events, corporate events, special events, private parties, one on one paint lessons, kid parties, custom paintings and more. Through the services I offer, I want to empower and promote the feeling of being safe to release inner creativity without fear of negative criticism thus boosting self-confidence. There is no right or wrong when it comes to art. The idea is that when you book with my company, Oops I Forgot I’m Painting, I want you to enjoy yourself by relaxing and having so much fun with your friends and family, you’ll forget you’re painting!
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Never stop learning! If you’ve found that you’ve stopped just remember back to when you were a kid how exciting it felt to learn something new. If you are unhappy, it may be due to the fact you stopped learning new things.
Think about the talents you had as a kid. Back when you didn’t have any money and all you had was your mind and body.
Use 1 of your talents. In some shape form or fashion, put your energy, anxiety and focus into using your talent.
Live… see what happens… acknowledge to yourself how using your talent again felt good.
Give yourself a pat on the back, you’ve made an accomplishment!
Success starts with positivity and a healthy mind. Free your mind by taking time to stop and smell the roses. Remember the simple things we can do for ourselves to start finding happiness within.
