We recently had the chance to connect with Bri Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Bri , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
I have been truly blessed to have the most compassionate and thoughtful people supporting my business. Throughout the years, I have been surprised to find many repeat buyers of my art that will continue to search for me at markets to continue their support. It makes me feel valued, seen, and I am forever surprised and grateful for how well received my art has been.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Bri and I am a multi media artist and jewelry designer from San Diego. Over the years my art has evolved from textiles, embroidery, clay, watercolors, and metal working. I now focus mainly on working with crystals of all kinds in various forms. I enjoy collaborating with other artists to create one of a kind, wearable art such as stained glass circlet head pieces that have been wire wrapped and adorned with crystals. I also enjoy traveling and spending time with my dog named Nova.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that was once just an observer served its purpose, and has now be released. I have moved into the part of my life where I take action, which has propelled me into the most fulfilling experiences. In my past, I spent a lot of time holding myself back from publicly sharing my art and that chapter has now closed.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I do struggle with being seen and putting my art on display, it took me many years to build up the courage to try to overcome that fear. Being a vendor at various markets over the last year and a half has forced me to work past those fears and the amount of positive feedback and incredible opportunities I have received have made the hard work worth it.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
Creating gives me life and purpose. I don’t often speak about the profound effect that being an artist has on me, but it is part of my life force. To truly create from my soul, I must always show up as my most authentic self, which is something I’ve built into the foundation of my business and life.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I believe if I were to retire now, many of the people who have supported me along the way would miss the genuine interactions we were able to share when connecting with my art and jewelry designs. A major part of why I decided to vend at markets is because of the incredible conversations I’ve had getting to know the people who resonate with what I make.
