Carolina Galindo shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Carolina, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
“Over the past 7 years of serving the San Diego community, I have been very fortunate to meet wonderful clients who are kind and, most importantly, respectful of me and my work. What has truly surprised me is how much families value the effort, dedication, and detail we put into each event. Their trust and ongoing support are what motivate me the most to keep growing.”
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Carolina Galindo, and I am the founder of Sunshine Softplay, a family-owned business that started in 2018 inspired by my daughter. What began as a simple idea to create a safe and fun play space for babies and toddlers has grown into a project that has accompanied many families in their most special moments.
This year, we are proudly celebrating 7 years of serving the San Diego community, providing clean, safe, and joyful play areas. What makes Sunshine Softplay unique is our commitment to every detail—from cleanliness and safety to offering families a warm and accessible experience. Our business was created with love, and it continues to grow thanks to the trust of the families who allow us to be part of their celebrations.”
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I believe the moment that truly shaped my perspective on life was when I first met my children. That’s when I understood the purpose of life and the importance of continuing to grow emotionally, professionally, and spiritually. It motivated me to work even harder to show them that anything we set our minds to can be achieved, and that as human beings, we have the power to make a difference. The world needs valuable and respectful people, and I want to be an example of that for my children and those around me.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there was a moment when I almost gave up. I was one of the first people in San Diego to offer this type of service, which wasn’t common for children’s parties at the time. My business really began to grow during the pandemic, and since then, other businesses have emerged offering similar services, some even with larger or more advanced equipment than mine.
However, as I mentioned in my first interview, my focus has always been on maintaining excellent customer service and providing a high-quality experience. It has been challenging to continue in such a competitive market, but I am truly grateful to the families who continue to trust and support our family business.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I remain fully committed to my business, Sunshine Softplay. Every weekend, I put in enthusiasm, love, and dedication to provide each client with the service they deserve, maintaining the same commitment I had from day one. This commitment is not only about delivering excellent service, but also about creating memorable experiences for families, helping children enjoy and grow in a safe and fun environment. In the long term, my goal is to continue growing, innovating, and maintaining the trust of the community that has supported us for the past 7 years
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When have you had to bet the company?
One of the moments I truly bet on my business was at the very beginning, when I decided to use our savings to create Sunshine Softplay for my daughter’s first birthday. It was a new idea in San Diego, and I wasn’t sure how the community would respond. Later, during the pandemic, I had to take another big risk: despite closures and uncertainty, I invested in more equipment and prepared the business for when families could celebrate again. Each of these moments involved risks, but they were worth it because they taught me to trust my vision and my dedication to our clients.
