Check out Aaron Bowen’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Bowen.

Aaron, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
As a son of four generations of musicians, I started playing viola at the age of three and guitar at the age of five beginning a full-time musical pursuit devoted to the mechanics of music, wherein I earned a bachelor’s degree in theory and composition at UCSD college. It wasn’t till after a horrific hand injury when I lost 60% of the mobility in my right thumb did I fall in love with music in an entirely different way. I began to follow the musical lead of my father Richard Bowen and pursue writing and producing.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a songwriter, producer and musical coach. I have written, recorded and produced seven albums under my name influenced by jazz, folk, old-time country, r&b, and psychedelic. creating music has always been therapy for me and a window for others if you’re willing to look in to see who I am, it’s been the way I communicate with the world. But one of the greatest gifts for me has been helping other musicians fulfill their dream to create and release music, trusting me to help capture their art is such a beautiful partnership.

Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
I completely think it should change you as an artist and if it doesn’t, it might be a good time to take a look at what you are doing and why you’re doing it. I feel at times, it looks like an incredibly daunting task or an impossible hill to climb. Not everyone is a Martin Luther King Jr a Gandhi or Stevie Wonder but you don’t have to be, either you don’t have to try to change the world but just try to make your neighborhood a better place with live a small act of kindness. Like I said before, I create art for my own therapy and in turn, I can help other artists create music and maybe through this ripple effect we can all change this nasty course of history we’re on

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can find me on Instagram, it’s a wonder to see into my world I have tried to curate an honest representation of my life and if I’m not improvising one-minute music snippets on my Casio keyboard, then I’m playing with my cats.

Facebook, iTunes, Apple Music, and Spotify are all great places to hear my music as well but Bandcamp is my personal favorite for a platform for an independent artist.
