Today we’d like to introduce you to Abri RaCheal.
Abri, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I have never not been doing art. My mom set up a shelf in my room when I was little filled with papers, paint and anything else you can imagine. It was there and I would sit at my tea table and paint.
My art took off and I found a deeper appreciation for it when I started taking art classes at the age of eight with a local artist. I was really nervous when we pulled up to his driveway. He lived in a giant castle. I kid you not it was a house built to look like a castle and he designed it himself.
As soon as I walked in I was home. We grew really close over time as he switched up his different locations. He was I aspired to be. A free spirit, creating, traveling and happy.
Times changed and he moved away and I found a new mentor. And a new mentor and now I am looking for a new mentor haha.
I’ve found new opportunities, met new people and I look forward to the future. This is what I want to do with my life and I’m not gonna stop till it happens.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My art is constantly changing. I started off with precise lines and making it as perfect as I can to blobbing it on and seeing where it goes from there.
When I first started painting I used oil. But I’m constantly exploring from gouache, acrylic to spray paint.
I create my art to bring happiness. I love how a lot of art has a deep message or a story behind it. And some of my work does have that. But I mostly create it because it makes me happy.
I feel like a lot of people are chasing happiness. Maybe while they’re chasing to find there’s they can stop for a moment to soak in mine.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success is when you’re finally in a good place. You’re happy with your life and what you are doing. I think the first thing is that you are happy with what you are making and who you are. You’re not worried if anyone else likes your work. You like your work. You’re confident in your abilities and that confidence will ring and draw in others.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My Instagram @abriracheal is where you will find all my art updates, I also have my website linked in my bio as well.
