Hi Alexis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Eczema is something I have struggled with my entire life. There would be times when there were no break outs and other times when I’m covered from head to toe. Nothing really seemed to work for me, the steroid shots, body creams, about 50 different lotions and I really didn’t like the thought of putting chemicals I can’t even pronounce all over my body. Especially when they didn’t stop the burning itch. I remember my mom use to always mix different types of oils together for her skin care and would buy me raw shea butter and mango butter in hopes that would help ease my pain.
We even had a conversation year ago about starting a skincare line or a makeup line for people who have the same struggles. That dream was something that stayed in the back of my mind until about a year ago when I was trying to find what it was I really wanted to do in life. I always knew helping others heal was a passion of mine. The beauty industry was also a huge passion of mine, from nails to makeup to skincare. Thinking back on the conversation with my mom and wanting to do something that combined my two passions, I started my business Skinature Inc.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are a lot of bumps in the road on my Skinature journey. From figuring out what products to do, the trial and error of making those products, to the feeling of “am I doing it right?”. I find a lot of obstacles that are thrown in my way are self-conflict. Having a huge support group of friends and family cheering you on along the way make it all worthwhile.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I hand make vegan skin care specially formulated to heal and prevent eczema break outs with no scaring or hyperpigmentation left behind. Every product is safe for all skin types and textures, gentle enough for babies yet strong enough for adults. My personal favorites are my body butters due to how quickly they heal eczema break outs, instantly taking away any burn/itching feeling.
