Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Compton.
Anna, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am a brand director at a fashion brand, TWO SEPTEMBERS.
Ever since I was little, I was very curious and loved to study. I graduated from university with a degree in Linguistics and moved to America 10 years ago. I have continued to learn in many various fields.
I graduated from SDCC with a certificate in Interactive Media and Web in 2017. Ever since I haven’t put away my computer not even for a day:)) Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design became my friends. WordPress and CSS are the air I breathe.
In 2017, my friend and I decided to start a fashion brand. We live on two different continents, but thanks to modern technology, we are able to create together. She is a fashion designer, and I create graphics for print on paper and fabric. I work on the brand side of it all. While creating all kinds of marketing media, digital artwork, patterns for fabric, look books, and brochures, I grow as a professional and a person. The best part of it is being able to do what you love and work with your best friend.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I create digital media for fashion. TWO SEPTEMBERS is a sustainable fashion brand. So media, as well as the clothes we create have to pass the timeless test. We carefully pick designs for patterns. We plan and style our photoshoots with inclusiveness and sustainability in mind. The message we would like to share with people is that style and fashion can be timeless and smart, as long as it is intelligently crafted. I hope that in the modern era when people can choose and buy from anywhere in the world, they start paying attention to the materials, and smart designs more than to trends and fast fashion available for cheap, and they will vote with their choice for the change in all of the fashion industry towards slower more sustainable fashion.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Never stop learning. Don’t say no to opportunities and be flexible. Have a purpose and always work towards that purpose, but accept change on the way.
One lesson I wish I learned earlier in life is to never compare. Don’t even think that you will get labeled this way or the other just because someone else is. Your story is always unique, and it is up to you how you live it. Stay true to yourself and strive to do what you dream of doing today.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Right now, you can see our work on Instagram. @two2septembers @be_bright_designs. We like likes:)) It is always helpful.
Our website is also live, and there you can see our new collections when they are only being released, two2septembers.com.
Some of my styling work can be seen in magazines. We work closely with local models, photographers, and makeup artists. Though it is not the main area of my interest right now, I absolutely love the directing and styling process. I hope that as we grow, there are more interesting photoshoots coming.
