Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Rodriguez.
Anthony, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
At the age of 15, I became fascinated with Computers and cameras. The church I attended was still very new and did not have many people working on the media side of things. I felt a strong tug to join their media ministry, and shortly after that, I was taught how to operate Cameras, and better work my way around a computer. Fast forward a year I decided to Join the internship they were holding. Through that internship, I was taught how to edit videos, as well as work my way around an everyday DSLR camera to take photos and video. My first photoshoot ever was on a canon rebel T5i, and I absolutely fell in love with it. Through the years I used that camera for everything; Shoots for church, outside shoots, community shoots and many more. But it wasn’t until June of 2017 that I was called into my church office to where they offered me a job to work for them and to run the media. All videos, photo shoots, and Content was something that I was responsible for. Ever since then I have been loving it, I love being able to Create and Bring forth the vision all while doing it for God and His Glory. In early 2018 I Decided I wanted to get a little more serious with my Media & photoshoots, So I decided to purchase a Canon 1dx Mark ii. It was definitely a very big investment, but it has unwillingly paid off in the long run. Now Current time I still work for the church full time; however, I started an outside Media Business handling Videos, Photos, and Social Media Marketing. So far it has been doing really well, and I have been able to establish reoccurring clients which has grown substantially within the past year. I definitely do not have it fully figured out yet, and I am still in a learning process of managing time and personal finances. But all in all to conclude I know God is blessing this outside business, and I know He honors the Tithes and offerings which are the first 10% of your income. I always make sure no matter what I do, to always center it around God, everything that has happened in my life is because of him, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I believe that we were all born to be creators to some extent. The reason why I believe this is because in the bible it gives a clear picture that God first created. Meaning we serve the ultimate creator. Who created everything. Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning, God CREATED the heavens and the earth.” I am someone that believes God created everything in existence and that he gives us the gift to create. For myself, I have found that creating videos and capturing photos is something that allows me to express God’s creativeness. Whether its a family photo shoot or a creative shot of a drummer. The thing I do my best at is to point people to the Creator through my work.
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
The biggest challenge I’ve seen and witnessed myself is fear of failure. So many people don’t step out because they are afraid to fall, or make a mistake. But I have come to the realization that our failures and mistakes actually make us stronger as a person, and more disciplined in our lives
