Today we’d like to introduce you to Billy Economou.
Billy, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Ever since I was a little kid, I was drawn to photography and taking photos. The mere fact of being able to freeze a moment in time has always been fascinating to me. My love for photography has evolved to telling stories and showing people and places in a unique perspective. I got my start in photography 15 years ago in Winnipeg, Manitoba where I attended photography school and developed my own successful business in photography. This all happened while I was also an elementary PE Teacher! Another one of my loves.
In 2011, I met the woman of my dreams who happened to live in San Diego. The relationship flourished an I ended up moving to San Diego and getting married. In San Diego, I decided to pursue photography full time where I specialize in wedding and portrait photography. In my time as photographer, I have been fortunate to have photographed over 300 weddings and events all over the world. From the most lavish and luxurious to the most simple and intimate ones… all hold a special place in my heart. I have been refining my skills though photography school, workshops, working with other photographers and plenty of research.
My style is easy-going, positive and fun! I aim to capture the true spirit of each and every subject through a series of candid, artistic and formal photos. In the past few years, I have also developed a love for video production as I feel they go hand in hand!
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I aim to capture the true spirit of each and every subject through a series of candid, artistic and formal photos. I also love color and look for it, whenever I’m taking photos and videos.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
My advice to other artists would be to keep shooting! The more you do it, the better you get at it. Don’t be afraid to reach out to other artists that inspire you and collaborate with them!
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can see my work on my website www.bestudios.me or on Instagram @bestudios_sd. I also showcase my work at San Diego’s Bridal Bazaar.
