Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Jameson.
Brandon, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’ve always been inclined to create. I played with Legos as a kid, which were the perfect toys for a kid like me… I built anything and everything I could think of, and I was absolutely in love with the process. Later, I got an erector set, and a 50-in-1 electronics lab, and continued to create. I liked drawing, and crafts as well.
I never took my creativity seriously until I was an adult, when I decided to make my own wall art, convinced that I could make exactly what I wanted. It turned out to be much more difficult than I thought, but I stuck with it, and eventually things started looking better. I started having more and more ideas, and I made a point to do better with each painting, and I still feel that way. I’m inspired by so much, and I can’t paint fast enough to get all of the inspirations out there. As I continue to create, I only hope that others are moved by my work as well!
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I create things that have meaning to me. I like to capture the essence of famous figures I history. A picture is worth a thousand words, and art has the power to spark a deep conversation where many topics can be explored. The conversation always comes back to the art… What do you think of? Are you emboldened? Are you inspired? Have I provoked some thought? Have I caused you to have a moment of peace within the space of your mind? However it strikes you, is what I’m attempting to do.
I don’t have a ‘style’ and many of my paintings look different than others. Some trained artists will say this isn’t good, but I feel that it reflects my dynamic personality, and the dynamic, unpredictable nature of life. I paint my pieces how I feel they need to be painted to get the maximum impact and match to how I see it in my mind’s eye.
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
The biggest challenges facing artists today is finding a nice in an oversaturated market, and getting compensated adequately for their time.
