Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Huckabee.
Brian, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
When I was a teenager, I was really interested in the show “Jackass” and freestyle motocross videos. I would borrow the family camcorder and go out and make videos with my friends. Fast Forward 10-12 years later, I haven’t touched a camera in all those years, my friends and I had started getting into RC planes and drones, so I decided to buy a camera and film everything. Around this time I also discovered Youtubers such as, Casey Neistat and Shonduras and started trying to vlog which forced myself to really learn my camera and editing techniques. A friend of mine noticed my work and asked me to film his wedding. As nervous as I was I accepted the task and started learning, even more, to prepare for the event. Upon sharing their video, I got a few more requests to film other weddings, and now, about two years later, I have a steady side gig that I really enjoy. Capturing the intimate moments between newlyweds and telling their story through visuals has become a true passion that I never knew I had.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do? Why? And what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My art mostly comes in the form of visuals, whether it’s photos or videos my main motivation is to inspire others around me. I have many different mediums that I’ve used creatively, and they all hold their own purpose, but the underlying reason why I continue to create is to motivate others to seek their own passions in life.
How can artists connect with other artists?
There are a ton of groups on Facebook that are specific to every form of art. If you’re an introvert and have a hard time expressing yourself with others, I would definitely start there. Try to find meetups with similar artists and work your way out of the online forum and into the real world. Putting yourself out there in the world is only nerves that you put in your own head. People with similar interest as you are generally accepting and interested in your perspective more often than not. Don’t be afraid to message people that have a similar social media presence as you either. Collaborating with other artists is a great way to learn new skills as well as exposure to a new crowd.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
