Today we’d like to introduce you to Cecily Moreno.
Cecily, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I grew up on a Mohawk reservation near Montreal Canada both my parents are Native American my mother is Mohawk and my Father is Tuscarora both part of the six nations. My Native heritage definitely defined the person I am. I moved to Albuquerque New Mexico where I met and married my husband and we started a family and from there our Gypsy life began moving to Florida and eventually ending up in California. After settling in I started working in the Casino Industry first in Food and Beverage then ultimately ending up as the Events Manager in Marketing for the last 7 years before starting my new adventure as a small business owner
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My Native roots definitely influence my design’s and help me share a piece of my heritage I love to create spaces that have texture and depth I want my clients to walk into a space and discover something new every time they look around. I use design elements that are unexpected nothing about my designs match everything is curated and collected I want the event space to feel like you have been invited into someone’s home where their worldly possessions are displayed.
How can artists connect with other artists?
Being an artist and a small business owner can be extremely lonely at times but I am extremely lucky to have the love and support of my family and friends and through social media I have met fellow artists and business owners that have reached out to me with encouragement, praise and support. Through collaborations I have gotten to know some really amazing people I otherwise never would have met.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
