Check Out Chelly Jane’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelly Jane.

Hi Chelly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My childhood revolved around music for as long as I can remember, but I didn’t officially start my professional journey until after high school. I went to college at The Art Institute of California – San Diego in 2009 and graduated with my Bachelors in Science for Audio Production. After that it was GRIND GRIND GRIND!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
DEFINTELY NOT….. but, I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for the connections and relationships I made in my college years, it probably would have been a longer journey for me. Being one of the few female audio engineers here in San Diego it wasn’t easy in the beginning. I spent a lot of days/nights in the studio just observing and soaking in the game before I actually got an opportunity to do anything, on top of that, it wasn’t until after college that I actually started getting picked up for gigs and paid for engineering.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in post-production and audio engineering, more so for music and studio recording. I’m also known for my song writing and singing as well. Honestly, I’m proud of everything I’ve done, with all the trials and tribulations in my earlier years it makes it all worth the long nights and restless days. More specifically the work I’ve been doing as of lately, the core group of artists that I’m currently working with are so talented and just amazing individuals all around. I can’t wait for them to drop their music this year. I think what sets me apart is, not only do I genuinely love what I do, but I really do love the “creative” process of audio engineering. I love being able to take an artist’s idea and literally bringing it to life.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is making homemade music videos with my brother. Growing up our parents would always watch Filipino entertainment shows where celebrities would sing and dance for a live audience. So we would take my dad’s camera and make our own renditions of the show to send it back to our family in the Philippines. The footage probably doesn’t exist anymore and I’m okay with that. lol
