Check out Chris “Tex” Waterman ‘s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris “Tex” Waterman.

Chris Waterman is an illustrator currently living in Orange County, CA. Growing up in West Texas, Chris escaped the hot, summer, desert days by submerging himself in science fiction, fantasy, comics, and drawing. The clear, starry, night skies became an inspiration for his science fiction themed artwork. Chris knows no boundaries creatively. Besides his love for clean comic styled pen and ink work, watercolors recently became an essential part of his galactic illustrations. Chris always challenges himself to try new mediums to continue to expand his artistic ventures. When he isn’t spending time creating, Chris loves to run in the hills and hanging out with family.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I have always loved space. There is an infinite energy and hope that comes with the vastness of it. Science fiction has been a huge inspiration be it comics, books, and movies. Both these subjects have been front and center with much of my artwork. I work primarily with pen and ink and watercolor. Watercolor lends itself the cosmic and atmospheric feel of my artwork. I want people to enjoy my work. To find some joy in the space that surrounds our planet.

How can artists connect with other artists?
I think being part of an artistic community is so important. Besides the fact it’s a great way to network, it also lends itself to inspiration, to helpful, creative advice and feeling sense of belonging. Go to openings, meet your peers and your heroes and be part of a creative scene.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I have shown pieces at the La Bodega Gallery as well as some pop-up shows hosted by the ThumbPrint gallery. I recently had a feature and am a regular contributor at The Hive Gallery in LA. I have also participated in the coaster show most recently hosted at Gallery 30 South in Pasadena.
