Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Jean Tamp.
Danielle Jean, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I actually started in this industry as a back up carrier plan while I was in my early 20’s. It became the plan when I found out I was pregnant with my son. It has been the best plan over the past 13 years as I have had the flexibility to be a full time mom while holding my independence in this industry. Not many moms can say the same. And, I really surprised myself when discovering that I had a natural talent at creating beautiful hair!
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a cosmetologist with a specialty in highlights! Although I also create beautiful color, haircuts, extensions and more, they call me the highlight specialist! Many stylists get wrapped up in the money and how many appointments can be double booked. I see nothing wrong with that, however, I have just never felt comfortable about double booking as it takes away from having the opportunity to build a relationship with each client personally. I do book back to back but I give myself plenty of time to do quality work. I say it like this,” I will treat your hair the way I want mine to be treated”. I expect honor and respect, therefore I will do my job with integrity!
Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
I believe art has become even more of a way of living! There are so many forms of art and people are really beginning to discover this within themselves and the community. There are many people in their jobs being replaced by a computer, however, no computer will be able to replace a stylist! We are a needed industry not only for the day to day Life of middle class America, but for the many arts that are out now in modeling, photography, business functions, etc…
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
