Check out Evangelina Ariel Galyean’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evangelina Ariel Galyean.

Evangelina Ariel, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
The start of my photography was just a happy coincidence of my husband upgrading his camera for product photography and me getting his hand-me-down. We would go out to the coast often with the thought of taking landscape pictures at sunset, but I noticed my viewfinder would always land on a family in the water nearby or a couple snuggling while taking in the view. This led me to photographing family and friends, and to where I am now, with a new career focus of taking your story-messy and lived-in, with the people you love and showing you the perfect in unplanned moments that you can now keep forever.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
As in everything in the last 10 years of my life, my husband has been a constant source of support and encouragement. I am so happy to have him come with me as a second shooter on my sessions. He motivates me to continue towards my goals as a person and a photographer. His endless love is a huge inspiration to save and treasure moments in time for others so they can always feel the warmth of the ones that love them most in the photos I’ve taken.

I am and always have been a people watcher, and a writer of my thoughts and emotions. These may not be obviously linked with taking photographs, but for me they come together perfectly to create meaningful images.

I now mix my new love of photography with my old habits of people watching and writing down what’s in my heart. When I take a picture, I can continue my people watching with the added bonus of writing down the emotions and thoughts of my clients and their loved ones in that moment. Instead of ending up in a journal to be read by few, now those emotions can be seen by all, whether it’s a picture on a wall in your living room, or within a special album.

Couples, Weddings, or Families-every image I share with you has to make me feel something to make the cut. If that moment can make a stranger feel something then I feel like I’ve accomplished my goal.

Life is busy, and when snapping a picture with your phone and sending to family and friends takes all of 2 minutes, people can lose sight of the value of professional photography. I don’t want to provide you with just images, I want to create an experience that fills you with love and laughter. Creating comes easiest to me when I am outdoors, which is why I prefer to do my sessions at locations where my clients can run around, get splashed, get dirty, and have fun! Show me YOUR LIFE and I will give you YOUR LOVE in photos.

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Continue to grow. Be open to change. Never stop learning. Be you. These are all things I’m constantly working on. I don’t want to settle with what I’m comfortable doing, I want to challenge myself, because then I might fail, but I will learn, and I will grow and get better and more confident.

There are so many amazing artists that might do what you do, but they didn’t live your life and will never be who you are- use your quirks to your advantage and distinguish yourself by being you instead of everyone else.
