Check out Hang Vuong’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hang Vuong.

Hang, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am very passionate about being able to make others feel happier and more confident in their appearance, but I was still searching for a career that would accomplish that and suit my skills. After many hours of traveling and financial trials, I found myself in the world of microblading.

Microblading is a great way to boost one’s confidence, as the eyebrows indicate expression and are one of the most prominent features of the face. I had my share of doubts when I flew to Vegas to begin taking classes, as many do when exploring a new path for the first time; I was worried that I may be past my prime, or that the time and finances put into this pursuit would not be successful.

I started out with very little money when I moved to California, but put in the effort to shadow artists and improve my skills. I put in many hours of personal time to travel and work as an assistant to gain more knowledge. I have also heard criticisms about the industry I wanted to pursue, and was told that I might not be very successful. But, even as I worried, I decided to push through, persevere, and show my best work to the world, and everything else just fell into place.

This journey of self-discovery had spanned 8 months, but now I can confidently say that none of it was in vain. My message for anyone thinking of pursuing a dream: it might not come true right away, but if you are consistent, persistent, and follow your intuition, extraordinary things may happen. To quote Henry David Thoreau, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you have imagined.”

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a microblading artist and trainer at HV Artistry, conference speaker and Judge for permanent makeup competition. I specialize in semi-permanent makeup that utilizes tattooing techniques to mimic realistic hair strokes, which make the eyebrows appear fuller. I use tools like rulers, I also use variety like caliber,  golden ration compass and string technique to map out the eyebrow shape. The size, shape, color, and the way that the eyebrows frame the face are based on each client’s bone structure.

By being able to customize each client’s eyebrows, I can find the best way to accentuate their facial features and instill a newfound sense of confidence. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful, and it is my mission to make that come true for every client that walks through my door.

Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
As an artist, one of the most difficult hurdles to overcome is staying motivated in the face of doubt and uncertainty. It can be hard to gauge if one’s skills and experience are on par with what clients are willing to pay for, and that can be discouraging. Starting out will always have its challenges, but if you focus on self-improvement and present your best effort every day, your work will reflect that.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My salon is located in Huntington Beach. The best way to stay updated on my work is to follow my social media. I regularly post on my Facebook page and my Instagram account. I also have a website that includes more information about pricing and how to schedule an appointment.
