Check out Ina Nederdal’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ina Nederdal.

Ina, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’m a photographer currently studying digital design. I’ve always liked collecting things, notes, pictures, memories, etc. I realized I liked making collages a couple of years ago while I was studying photography. I was looking for a personal project I was going to work with for a year. I kept searching for good ideas that would stand out for a photo project but got stuck, overthinking. One of my teachers asked me ”what do you really enjoy?” I had to think for a while but then I realized I wanted to be free from the pressure that the work had to stem from this ”amazing idea”. I guess, creating images intuitively, without any rules was what I wanted to do, and that is what got me started. When I look back in old notebooks and diaries I realize I started making collages ages ago, I just forgot about it.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I make graphic posters and both handmade and digital collages. I collect old books and photographs that I use as material and also integrate them with objects as well as my own photographs. Why? Because I have an urge to create and I like the feeling when I’m done and see the result. I wish the process was more soothing, but I’m a very impatient person, so I like the process to be quick!

I find it really hard to get started sometimes, and life (and technology) often gets in the way, but when I do, I get into that special flow, which I enjoy a lot. My images are part of my own little world, and I want people to make out their own ideas and impressions of them.

My inspiration comes from all types of art forms, but I do look at a lot of images, both online and in books. Some photographers who have inspired me are Connie Imboden, Sally Mann and Man Ray,

The stereotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
I’ve been and still am one of those still struggling. I think it takes a long time to get to the point when you’re not struggling. It took me ages to even decide that I wanted to work creatively because I was scared. I guess my advice would be to try finding a job on the side which doesn’t take too much energy from you. And realize that people who seem very successful online probably struggle too.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
