Check out Jesus Gonzalez’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesus Gonzalez.

Jesus, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
As a child, I was deeply enchanted and pulled by music and its place in existence. I always created music in my head that I’d sing to out loud but I eventually became frustrated by the fact that nobody could hear the music I was singing to. I finally decided I wanted to play the guitar when I was eight so that my music could finally manifest into actual audible sound waves for the world to hear. It’s been the most special journey ever since.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a singer-songwriter that often utilizes a loop pedal to create several dimensions of sound so that the listeners can find themselves in a soundscape. Most of my songs are improvised, and so are my lyrics. I’m heavily inspired by poets like Hafiz, Rumi, Khalil Gibran, and Mary Oliver, so my lyrics naturally gravitate into poetic musings about universal love. I would say that my greatest goal with music would be helping myself and others to see more clearly how miraculous it is to be in this world or to be anything at all. To finally really see and feel what we have been seeing and feeling this whole time. Realizing how precious this life experience is.

How can artists connect with other artists?
Yes, Get out there! I find that lots of artists can be so timid about showing themselves to the scene, but it’s so deeply worth it. You can gain so much from finally taking the step to reach out to other artists! You gain wisdom, musical knowledge and most importantly support & friendships!

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can find me on Instagram as @amethystjesus where I post about my performances. You can also find my very first album I made a few years back on jesusgonzalez1.bandcamp.com. I’m currently working on a new album that’s being recorded by my great friend and local musician, Aaron Bowen.
