Check out Lauren Dixon’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Dixon.

Lauren, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I have always had a passion for art and anything creative. I was never good at math, and it always frustrated me, but whenever I was given the task of anything creative (even public speaking), I was such a natural and was so focused on whatever I was doing. In college, I wanted to major in something that would allow me to be flexible with my future, so I majored in Business. Over the last couple of years, I wanted to do something that could combine both my business skills as well as still have the ability to be creative. Photography was the perfect mix of both! On top of that, I absolutely LOVE working with people. I have always loved making friends, getting to know people and am a people person at heart. Being able to help people and make one of their biggest days memorable is truly an honor.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I specialize in wedding and lifestyle photography with my husband as my second shooter and business partner. I have always loved weddings since I was a little girl. With this being said, I have an immense passion for capturing this special day for couples. My art is my everything. I make sure not to just capture the basic moments in basic format, but capture every little detail and emotion in order to tell a beautiful and romantic love story. I want people to look back at their photos and not just see pictures but to feel the emotions all over again and relive the day.

I would describe my style as light and airy, intertwined together to capture each couple’s unique story. I work to present my subjects in their most beautiful form through the use of natural light and a minimalistic approach. There is something to be said about the natural beauty behind simplicity. I strive for all my images to feel authentic, elegant and sophisticated. I always aim to deliver timeless photos that will never go out of style.

Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
I think the biggest challenge is comparison. Instagram and other social media platforms have played such a crucial role in building my business. However, with social media so prevalent, everything appears to be so perfect at times, and it can be hard not to compare yourself to others. This also plays true with art and business. I find that I compare myself to other photographers and artists more than I would like to admit. The challenge is to use this to spark creativity and not allow yourself to feel defeated when it comes to your artwork.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can find me at my Instagram @laurendixonphotography or on my website at laurendixonphotos.com.

I enjoy meeting new people, whether that be a new client, a new photog friend or just a fellow Instagram buddy! I love the idea of community over competition, and I get alot of my inspiration from you all as well.
