Check out Michelle Bowen’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Bowen.

Michelle, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
At the early age of 7, I picked up a camera and knew I found my passion.

After experimenting with various formats of cameras and film… yes, film, I decided to switch to digital 10 years ago.

I feel so fortunate to have learned the amazing art of photography from various teachers, classes and programs throughout the years. I also understand many different elements that go into taking just one photo and attribute that to my years of working with film. It is a little different than digital and teaches you so much about setting up that perfect shot.

Photography is my true passion and natural born talent and I absolutely love capturing beautiful moments for my clients.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a lifestyle and portrait photographer. From yoga to families I like to create lasting memories for my clients to look back on for years to come.

I hope those who see my work resonate with it. I like to capture a person’s true beauty, which is why there is never any airbrushing performed in any of the portraits I take. A picture depicts reality, a frozen moment at an exact time in a person’s life. I don’t want to alter or take away from that expression.

Since I learned on film, I take that and apply it to digital. The photos I take are in the truest form, with the smallest amount of altering/editing done. I understand Photoshop is huge in the world of digital photography but I do not use it.

Photography has many aspects and I feel my style is classic, fun and showcases the inner and outer beauty of each individual in every photo.

The stereotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
Follow your heart. If there is a passion and desire to create, the financial aspect will work itself out. Keep a main source of income and when ready, slowing let go and watch your creative self-thrive!

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I do not have any exhibits for my work, but if there is an interest to see more, I have both a website and Instagram where you can find more of my portfolios:
